The Client
Our client is a Swiss foundation, which promotes education in healthcare through training and development. It runs its own publishing house, which specialises in producing informative and instructive training material and reference guides for people of all levels of medical expertise – from experienced professionals to passers-by at an accident scene.
The Challenge
The client approached us to translate 350,000 words of German documentation into English to make them accessible to a wider audience. These included a module-based training manual on psychological care for the health and social care practitioners and a first-aid and emergency care guide aimed at non-experts.
Given the serious nature of the subject matter and the need to provide readers with the information they can act on quickly and correctly, the translations had to be 100% accurate, guaranteeing correct use of medical terminology and compliance with Swiss and international healthcare standards, yet also easily comprehensible and engaging to audiences of varying expertise.
Our Solution
Our task was to put together a team of reliable translators and proofreaders who could combine sound medical knowledge with skilful writing and an intuitive grasp of the readers’ requirements. The large quantity of text also meant that excellent coordination throughout the project team was essential for ensuring absolute accuracy and consistency.
