AST recently awarded Cyber Essentials accreditation October 2016
At AST, our customers depend on us for secure handling of their often highly confidential documentation both before and after translation, so we take cyber security threats extremely seriously.
Cyber Essentials aims to help organisations implement basic levels of protection against cyber attack, demonstrating to their customers that they take cyber security seriously.
The scheme is an independently verified self assessment. Organisations assess themselves against five basic security controls and a qualified assessor verifies the information provided.
The five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because, when properly implemented, they will help to protect against unskilled internet-based attackers using commodity capabilities – which are freely available on the internet.
The whole process took several weeks of carefully analysing and auditing all our IT systems, including network, hardware, software and desktop applications. Password policies had to be harmonised and managed centrally, firewall settings were carefully examined for vulnerabilities.
